Renzo Peretto is the new President of Cantina Santa Maria La Palma

The Members’ Assembly renews the Board of Directors in the name of continuity, expertise, and a clear vision for the cooperative’s future.

Cantina Santa Maria La Palma has a new President: Renzo Peretto.
The appointment took place during the first meeting of the newly elected Board of Directors, following the elections held on October 25th, in which the members of the cooperative were called to vote.
The results confirmed all the outgoing board members who ran for re-election, along with the new entries Riccardo Carboni and Renzo Peretto.

The new Board of Directors of Cantina Santa Maria La Palma is composed of:
Gabriele Bardino, Riccardo Carboni, Renzo Peretto, Francesco Pinna, Gianfranca Pirisi, Salvatore Serra, and Daniele Zapelloni.
During its first session, Gianfranca Pirisi was confirmed as Vice President, a role she has successfully held over the past two terms.

A new leadership guided by continuity and innovation

The newly elected Board represents both continuity and renewal, confirming the team that has led the cooperative through a period of remarkable growth.
The new President, Renzo Peretto, brings to the role a strong background in agriculture and viticulture, paired with a managerial mindset.
Graduated in Agricultural Sciences, Peretto has continued his professional education over the years through national and international programs in oenology and wine management — from Asti to Bordeaux, and Catalunya.
In 2002, he earned an International Master’s Degree in Viticulture and Oenology.
In 2025, he was awarded the titles of Academician of the Vine and Wine and Honorary Ambassador of the Cities of Wine, two recognitions that underline his authority in the Italian wine scene as well as his deep knowledge of Sardinian viticulture and the cooperative world.

With the confirmation of the Board, the appointment of Renzo Peretto as President, and the reconfirmation of Gianfranca Pirisi as Vice President, Cantina Santa Maria La Palma sends a strong signal of continuity, professionalism, and renewed energy — ready to pursue the cooperative’s ongoing mission of growth, innovation, sustainability, and territorial development, following the successful twelve-year presidency that preceded this transition.

“I am honored by this appointment and grateful to the members for their trust,” said Renzo Peretto.
“Cantina Santa Maria La Palma is a treasure of our community: we will continue to enhance our land, the quality of our wines, and the work of every member. The future of Sardinian wine begins here — in the hands of those who cultivate their land with passion every day.”

A cooperative symbol of Sardinian viticulture and social sustainability

Founded in 1959, Cantina Santa Maria La Palma is today one of Sardinia’s most important wine cooperatives.
It brings together over 300 member growers, managing more than 800 hectares of vineyards, and produces some of the island’s most iconic labels — including Aragosta Vermentino di Sardegna DOC, Ràfia, Akènta, and Akènta Sub, the famous underwater-aged sparkling wine that has become a symbol of innovation and identity.

Economically and socially, the Cantina stands out for achieving two often conflicting goals: market growth and local value redistribution.
Because of its cooperative structure, the wealth created by Cantina Santa Maria La Palma remains in Sardinia, reinvested directly in the community and its people.
This model is not just symbolic — it has tangible effects: it helps counter rural depopulation and strengthen the social fabric across one of Sardinia’s most extensive agricultural areas.

Cantina Santa Maria La Palma is therefore a true heritage for the island and its inhabitants:
a winery of Sardinia, for Sardinia — ready to keep looking toward the future.
