Cagnulari is a historic wine, one of the most important and representative of the territory of Alghero and North West Sardinia. Cagnulari is one of the oldest wines of Sardinia. The Cantina Santa Maria La Palma has made an important contribution to its recovery and promotion at national and international level, giving Cagnulari the space it deserved. Today Cagnulari is a highly appreciated wine: it has admirers everywhere, from Sardinia itself to all of Italy, up to the rest of the world. Those who try the Cagnulari never forget it.

 

Grapes: Cagnulari Alghero DOC
Vineyard location: Palmadula and Usini
Soil type: 40 hectares of Cagnulari – we isolate the best vineyards in the area on the road to Palmadula (alluvial soils, with a good clayey skeleton and good drainage) and Usini, calcareous soil, where the plant develops with a smaller and sparse grape that allows a more homogeneous maturation.
Harvest: last two of September
Climate: dry heat
Training systems: Simple Guyot
Plant density: 4000 – 4800 (Usini)
Yield: 80-100 quintals / hectare
Average age of vines: 20 years
Vinification and aging: 7 days of maceration, 7 days of vinification at 25 ° C; 4 pumpovers per day for the first week and 2 per day in the second, followed by malolactic fermentation.

Color: Deep ruby ​​red tending slightly to violet
Bouquet: Intense, persuasive, characteristic, with hints of licorice and berries
