New international recognition for Santa Maria La Palma wines at 5StarWines – the Book 2026
Santa Maria La Palma Winery once again confirms its place among the leading names in Italian and international winemaking, thanks to the new achievements earned at 5StarWines – the Book 2026, the prestigious wine selection linked to Vinitaly 2026, one of the world’s most authoritative wine events.
The historic cooperative winery of Alghero, a benchmark for high-quality Sardinian wines, received important recognition for four labels that perfectly express the diversity, quality and identity of the north-western Sardinian terroir.
These results further confirm the steady growth of Santa Maria La Palma Winery, increasingly recognised in international competitions, wine guides and major events dedicated to excellence in wine.
5StarWines 2026: Redìt and Novecento59 among Santa Maria La Palma’s standout wines
Among the highlights of the 5StarWines 2026 results, the Cannonau di Sardegna DOC Riserva Redìt stood out with an excellent 92/100, once again confirming the expressive strength of one of the winery’s flagship red wines and the importance of Cannonau as one of Sardinia’s most iconic grape varieties.
Another significant achievement came from the new Vermentino di Sardegna DOC Spumante Metodo Classico Novecento59, which earned 90/100. This is a particularly meaningful recognition for one of the winery’s most distinctive labels, offering an elegant and contemporary interpretation of Vermentino di Sardegna through the rigor and finesse of the traditional method.
Completing the list of awarded wines were Vermentino di Sardegna DOC Ràfia and Alghero DOC Cagnulari Riserva Recònta, two labels that continue to represent the authentic connection between the winery and the land of Alghero.
Ràfia and Recònta confirm the value of Alghero wines and north-west Sardinian native varieties
The recognition received by Ràfia further strengthens the positioning of one of the most representative white wines of Santa Maria La Palma Winery, already appreciated for its elegance, freshness and strong connection to the Mediterranean landscape of Alghero.
Likewise, the result achieved by Recònta, Alghero DOC Cagnulari Riserva, confirms the winery’s commitment to promoting Cagnulari, one of the most distinctive native grape varieties of north-west Sardinia and one of the strongest expressions of the local wine identity.
With these new awards, Santa Maria La Palma once again demonstrates its ability to deliver excellence across its entire production range: from sparkling wines to Vermentino, and from expressive reds made from Cannonau and Cagnulari to labels that increasingly define the winery’s identity on the Italian and international stage.
President Renzo Peretto on the 5StarWines 2026 awards
“These recognitions are a source of great pride for us and confirm the quality-driven path that Santa Maria La Palma Winery has been pursuing with determination for many years,” said President Renzo Peretto.
“Behind every award lies the daily work of our grower-members, the care devoted to the vineyards, the attention in the cellar, and a shared vision focused on bringing out the very best of our territory. For a cooperative winery like ours, these results have an even deeper meaning: they reward an entire community of people who work every day to build value, quality and identity. This is also an important recognition for Sardinian wines and, in particular, for the wines of Alghero, which continue to stand out for their personality, elegance and strong connection to their land. Bringing these labels to international contexts and seeing them appreciated by authoritative juries means helping tell the world the story of Sardinia’s wine excellence.”
Strong interest in Santa Maria La Palma wines at Vinitaly 2026
The results achieved at 5StarWines – the Book 2026 came during a particularly positive edition of Vinitaly 2026 for Santa Maria La Palma Winery.
During the fair, held in Verona from April 12 to 15, 2026, the winery’s stand welcomed a strong flow of industry professionals, buyers, wine experts and wine lovers, confirming the growing national and international interest in the wines of Alghero and in a winery that continues to represent the excellence of Sardinian winemaking with authority and consistency.
For Santa Maria La Palma, these new recognitions are not only an important milestone, but also a further confirmation of a path built on quality, territorial identity, the promotion of native grape varieties and the shared work of more than 300 grower-members.
