The 2026 edition of Akènta Day has come to a close with outstanding participation, once again confirming the event organised by Cantina Santa Maria La Palma as one of Sardinia’s most iconic summer celebrations and one of Italy’s most distinctive wine tourism experiences.
Around 500 guests joined the official fleet, while more than 80 private boats and vessels gathered off Capo Galera, bringing together nearly one thousand people to witness the emergence of Akènta Sub, the world’s only underwater wine cellar to emerge from the sea before a live audience.
This year’s edition further strengthened the event’s national appeal, with visitors travelling from across Italy and choosing Sardinia specifically to experience Akènta Day. A result that highlights the event’s growing role in promoting the region and showcasing Sardinia as a premier wine tourism destination.
As always, the spectacular emergence of Akènta Sub, carried out by the professional diving team and helicopter pilot, was the highlight of the day, representing a project that combines research, innovation and the enhancement of Sardinia’s marine heritage.
Cantina Santa Maria La Palma extends its sincere thanks to all participants, crews, partners, institutions, the Coast Guard, law enforcement agencies, healthcare personnel, volunteers and everyone whose dedication contributed to the success of the event.
Akènta Day continues to grow year after year, strengthening the Akènta brand while promoting Alghero and Sardinia as destinations where wine, the sea and local identity come together in a truly unique experience.
